Well folks ... 3rd trimester! Today marks 27 weeks 3 days. We are down to double digits days, 88(ish) days to go!

Baby's weighing about 2.5lbs and measuring 16 inches from head to heel. This week the baby continues to increase his/her brainwave activity. Baby is starting to REM sleep, which means dreaming has started for our little peanut. I wonder what they dream about?

Hiccups, coughing, sucking, and swallowing are all mastered at this point. I now know the difference between the movement/kicking and the hiccups. Baby seems to have them at least once a day. I read that babies don't seem to notice the hiccups, many of them sleep right through. They typically only last 30 seconds.

Last Wednesday morning I woke up in lots of pain and could barely move. Turns out I pulled a muscle in the upper left part on my back while I was sleeping.  They just told me to use a heating pad, and have Brian massage it. It gets better as each day passes.

I did my glucose test on Friday. It wasn't as bad as I thought it would be. It was pretty easy to drink. I made sure to put it in the fridge; I heard its better cold. It tasted like flat orange soda. It did leave me with a tummy ache, since I had to fast for 12 hours prior. It was very sugary! We are just waiting for the results. I'm not sure if they will call us with the results or wait until our appt on Friday.

My wonderful co-worker, Bethany, is throwing me a work baby shower on 03.03.13. I am looking forward to that in a few weeks. It should be fun.

Well, I can't think of anything else new. I'll leave you with a couple more pictures. :)

Baby J Update! They finally fixed the glitch. Make sure to check out the photos at the bottom! :)

Baby Js "stats":
Head to Heel Height: About 10 inches
Weight: About 1lb 10oz
Size: An Eggplant

25 Weeks:
Baby's starting to open its eyes. There is very little pigmentation in the eyes at the moment. As the weeks go on the pigment will fill in. A baby's eyes may change color until he/she is 1 year old. So who knows if Baby will have pretty green eyes like mommy or gorgeous blue eyes like daddy. :)
Brain wave activity is kicking into gear as well. Not only can Baby hear noises but he/she can now respond with movement and kicks. Baby's sense of touch is starting to increase. Its learning to feel its own face, and can sense touches from outside the womb. Mommy and Daddy are becoming very familiar and soothing for the baby. For the past few weeks, Baby has been mastering the technique of sucking and swallowing the amniotic fluid. They say I may even start to feel hiccups. I don't think I have though. I sure do feel lots of movement and kicks. I read that babies in the womb usually sleep about 16 hours a day... I don't believe our baby does. I feel movement all day, and when I wake up at night, baby's moving then too. I've also read that Brian may be able to hear the baby's heart beat now. Brian says he may have heard it, but that I had a lot of gurgling going on! Lol! I get to experience everything, but this would be something only HE would get to hear and experience. I thought that would be something special for him. We'll have to keep trying!

Maternity clothes are just around the corner for me. My days of regular clothes are limited. I am thankful to make it this long though. Also, my belly button is almost all the way out. Just waiting for the bottom part to pop out. :) Lol

We had our 24 week (6 month) check up, last Friday. Everything is still looking great! I knew I was getting near the time for the glucose testing. I was right. I have to drink the "yummy"  drink and get my blood drawn before our next appt. Glucose testing is to check for gestational diabetes. I get to fast for 12 hours, drink 10 ounces of pure sugary goodness within 5 minutes, and make sure my blood is drawn before an hour after drinking the glucose. Yay, sounds fun, right?! Hopefully everything comes back good though. I'd be very upset with myself, if I do happen to have gestational diabetes. I have been trying to be so good.
So, after my next appt on Feb 15, I will then be in my 3rd and final trimester, which means I will be in the OB office every two weeks (instead of every 4) until my last month, and then it will be weekly until I "pop". We are on the downward slope, people! Getting pretty excited. Can't believe how fast time has flown.

Brian and I met with the daycare provider last weekend. And we love her. Its a small world, turns out, Brian plays basketball with her husband. He said that hes a really nice guy too. We are very thankful to find someone. We think shes going to work out great. My neighbor, Darcy, is even going to put her boy in her daycare too, for when he starts kindergarten in the fall.

Well, I can't seem to think of anything else. Have a great weekend, all!

Hello :)

Hope everybody had a wonderful Christmas and a Happy New Year. Sorry to have kept you all waiting. Now that the craziness of the Holidays are over, hopefully I will be better at keeping you in the loop. :)

We got a few baby things for Christmas. We are off to a good start. While my mom was here we found and fixed up a dresser for the nursery, as well as an old chandelier. We painted the walls in the nursery. We decided to do white on the bottom, gray on top, and we got a chair rail to put up in between the colors. Once the baby is here we will add pops of color and purchase the boy or girl bedding we have picked out.

We are 23 weeks and 2 days. I'm less than 3 weeks away from entering my third trimester. Can't believe how fast its gone! The baby is as big as an ear of corn, about 9 inches and weighing about 1.5 pounds. The baby now starts to gain about 6 ounces a week, which is around 1.5 pounds per month. Most of the weight is fat, that is being deposited under the baby's skin. Can't have a skinny baby... Bring on the chub! :) Baby J can hear more than ever, now that its ears are fully formed making baby able to hear everything from a loud sound like dog bark to, mommy taking a deep breath. He/she is moving around like crazy these days. Everyday the baby seems to get stronger and stronger. I love laying in bed in the morning for a few minutes to feel it move around. Its the best time, since my stomach is empty and its all baby. :) I am able to feel full body movements, even body parts moving across my belly.

As for me, I've got a fast growing belly! Reality is really starting to set in for Brian and I. It starts to make it more and more real as this baby (and my belly) grows and gets stronger. We are still very excited, but nervous about whats to come. We are just trying to get things organized and prepared as much as possible. We can't wait to meet our little prince or princess. :)

This Sunday, we are meeting with a potential daycare provider. She only lives a couple blocks away. She used to be a teacher until she had her twins. She then decided to stay home, teach her boys, and start a preschool/daycare of her own. She does have an opening for an infant, so I am hoping we like her and everything checks out with her home, and references. It would be really convenient to have a provider so close. We wouldn't have to find a new provider once the child started kindergarten and she does preschool!

P.S. I was going to post a video and some photos, but its not letting me. Hopefully I will get it figured out soon.

Merry Christmas!
As promised, I have an update and some pictures! :)
We had our 20 week ultrasound yesterday (Friday, December 21st). Everything went very well. We got to see and watch the baby for about 45 minutes! Baby J wasn't cooperating for the Tech, which meant extra time for us to watch our baby. :) Eventually she got all the images she needed to make the determination that everything looks great, normal, and right on track. All it's bones and organs are working and operating as supposed to. Baby's measuring 7 inches and weighing 11 oz. Our Doctor said it best, that the baby's body is the size and weight of a soda can. Just picture a soda can and legs and arms sticking out! Pretty cute, right? :) My mom was even here to see her first grand baby for the first time. It was so special for all of us!

On Monday (December 17th) Brian was finally able to feel the baby kick for the first time! It was a nice little moment for us. :)

I hope everybody has a very Merry Christmas and an awesome New Year. Love and miss you all.

Hey All-
Thanks again for taking the time to check our blog. Today marks 17 weeks and 5 days. The baby is now the size of a sweet potato. He or She is about 5.5 inches long and tipping the scales at 5 ounces. :)
We had our 16 week appointment on Friday. We got to hear the heart beat again. That's always the best part of the appointment! Baby's heart rate was at 151 bpm. Which is right in the normal range. Again, everything is looking and sounding healthy. We had our second trimester blood work, again, to check for any chromosomal abnormalities. The blood work came back negative and all is normal. Its always a relief to get that phone call!
I've begun to feel movement now for the last 3 weeks. Its the most awesome thing ever. :) I wasn't sure what I was feeling at first, but knew it was different that anything I had felt before. I went about 10 days between the first and second movement, which was a little worry some. I did some research and found that its pretty normal to go a while between movements, esp so early in the pregnancy. With first pregnancies, most people don't feel anything until about 18 weeks. I guess I was pretty lucky to start feeling them early! I also called my Dr. and he assured me that everything was fine. I am now feeling movement everyday. Its mostly in the morning, when I am having breakfast and then in the evening, as I am getting ready for bed. Its just the most amazing thing, as well as very re-assuring.
Brian is a little disappointed that he can't feel anything yet. But hopefully within the next couple weeks, as the baby gets bigger, the movement will be strong enough for him to feel.
I'm still feeling great, and have a ton more energy. I have now started to gain a little weight. My first trimester I lost 4 pounds, but it appears that I have gained that 4 pounds back. I am still wearing all my normal clothes, but I know the end is getting closer and closer...
I have finally made it back into the gym. Yay! Its been nice to get back into the routine of working out. Although, my workouts are nothing like before, but it still feels good.
We are only a couple weeks out from that half way point. I will be 20 weeks on December 20th. It also means we are coming up on our next ultrasound. For most people it would be the ultrasound to reveal the gender. We, however, are waiting for our little baby's grand entrance, to see if its a boy or girl. As hard as it is, we rather wait for the surprise! We will have our ultrasound on December 21st. So, stay tuned for baby bump and ultrasound pictures!
Brian and I started our baby registry at Target. It was a little overwhelming. They don't have much in the gender neutral area, but we made it work, and were able to find some things.
Alright, bye for now. Love you all!
